phpbb2 to smf database

I have moved from a phpbb2 free hosting forum to a host and have installed smf. i already have posts in smf and just have gotten the phpbb2 db backup. is there a way to convert and install the database into smf's without losing to many posts. or do i need to install phpbb2 and then convert?

You need to install phpbb then install smf then convert.
