Is there a way to add a second post counter?

To everyone's profile that can be reset on a monthly basis? I would like to have a posting contest and it would be much easier to have a second counter.

There are ways, would require an extra database field. Or an additional table, depending.

This is significant enough it should really be in mod requests or scripting help.
