Board Slowness

I have noticed that when not logged in, my board responds slower by orders of magnitude.

For example, the home page loads in <0.02 seconds, whereas when logged out it is taking over 2 seconds.

Has anyone else noticed this relative large difference in performance?

Humm.

Do you have mods that may only show in one or the other.  IE: they only show something when you are not logged in (ads?)

What SMF version?  What mods?  Does this occur on the default theme?

Running Terra97 theme on 1.1.3.
Only package installed ia the Akismet package.

Running FreeBSD 6.2, Apache 2.2.4, PHP 5.2.3, MySQL 5.1, eAccelerator.

Even though eAccelerator is loaded and visible via phpinfo(), the caching options are stating:

SMF has not been able to detect a compatible accelerator on your server.
I will read the the sticky post you referred me to and see if I fine anything there.

Are you sure eA was setup correctly? If SMF can't detect its caching functions then it won't be able to use it.

Lets give hostname looks up a try. It might be an issue.
Admin -> Features and Options -> Layout and Options -> Check: Disable hostname lookups?
