When I click to modify the index template, I get this message -

QuoteAn Error Has Occurred!

The file you are trying to edit... can't even be found!

...well it's obviously there, otherwise I'd be staring at a blank screen, wouldn't I? ;D

I want to edit it to centre my banner.  So I guess I'll have to edit it locally and then upload it again, yeah?

Your paths may not be set properly.

As far as I know they are set properly, but it could be a skinning issue, I suppose.  I installed it as per the instructions I found here on this board - copying the default forum and then uploading the skin to the new board that was created.

Could it be that if I switch back to the old default skin, I could edit the index template there, and the changes would come into effect on the new skin?  Or would I be better off uploading the skin package via the admin CP and starting again?

Well, let's try this.  What path do you have listed for this theme?

I think I must have cocked something up tho - if I try to switch back to the SMF default skin, the appearance of the forum doesn't change from Helios :-\

I haven't deleted anything, and I haven't overwritten the defaults either.  Can't make it out.

I'm afraid that image doesn't help me at all... I really do need to see a the whole path, if at all possible... copy and paste would be ideal.

Apologies if I'm giving you the wrong info here, but I'm new to this.  The screen shot shows the URLs, which I thought was the same as 'strings' - am I wrong, or do you just want the complete entry for the bottom one?

"/home2/blunted/public_html/forum/Themes/helios" is what's entered in the bottom field.

The top two are as you see them in the screenshot - all that's missing from view is the 'http://w' on one, and the 'h' on the other.  If you need something different, just tell me where to find it and I'll get it - I might be new to this, but I know my way around a bit :)

That's the one I wanted, sorry for being unclear.

Can you try using /home/blunted/public_html/forum/Themes/helios?  If that doesn't work, you may wish to check other possibilities.

What could be happening is that /home2/ could be a link to the right directory, which would make things work... unexpectedly.

Have you tried repair_settings.php to see what it thinks your path is (click the recommended links..)?  See "What is repair_settings.php?"...

Alright, thanks, but I've tried it and it doesn't work - still get the error message.  Seems a bit odd though, because it's the same info in the SMF default theme's settings (except for the skin name), and all the themes are installed in the same directory, see jpg below...

The helios theme works fine with the modified string, whereas the default SMF theme throws up an error message, saying the string's wrong, if I remove the '2'.  I'll try your repair settings later, when I've got more time :)

Thanks again.
