Hi

I don't know if this is the right place to post this...

Since upgrading to 1.1 (pt_BR language option), my system generated emails telling me of a newly registered user drop the last letter of the Forum name (Avivamento Já).

Before:

xxx acabou de se inscrever como novo membro do seu Fórum. Clique no link em baixo para ver o seu perfil.

http://avivamentoja.com/smf/index.php?action=zzz
Atenciosamente,
A Equipa do Avivamento Já!.

After:

xxxx acabou de se tornar um membro do Fórum. Clique no link abaixo para ver o seu perfil.

http://avivamentoja.com/smf/index.php?action=zzz

Até breve,
A administração do Avivamento J!.

The different wording is obviously because of the translation I'm using, although I´m guessing that the translation used shouldn't affect the name of the forum, which would be imported as a string variable from the system somehow.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Paul

Hey, could you open your Settings.php and look for:
$mbname =
And see if that á is there.

Sorry for the delay in replying...

I just checked settings.php and the á is in the $mbname string ...

$mbname = 'Avivamento Já!';      # The name of your forum.

Just a quick question: should I be using some form of encoded character such as á inside the settings.php file?

Hmm... In your output source - when you view your page - what is the character set set to? (Don't mind me - I am just trying to clear up older posts.)

SMF vs. Godzilla? Who do you think will win?

Paul Cull, do you still need assistance with this issue? If so, are you using SMF 1.1.2? It also might help to try using UTF-8, which generally has better international character-set support.

How do I set my board to use UTF-8. Does this depend on the translation available (I'm using pt_BR).

Hi Paul, I would backup your database first before doing this.

Go to your forum->Admin->Forum Maintenance and click on the last link to convert to UTF-8.
