Hey guys,

I was messing around with some ideas to increase registration of guests/lurkers etc

So I came up with this:

http://www.forumtuner.com/Simple-Pop-up-notification-by-ForumTuner.html

It is a pop-up notification (that looks like a sticky note but could be anything you like) that encourages users to register.

If I get some good feedback I will turn this into a full modification. If you have any ideas let me know and I will credit you if I use it.

Looking

That is just a lightbox effect that may annoy users.

You're right it is just a lightbox. I have used this type of modification to increase wordpress newsletter subscriptions and the response rate tripled. I guess it is personal preference if you find them annoying.

WantSome

It's cute.

Would there be an option to just close it and continue on to the forum without clicking on the 'register here' button?

(right now you have to click outside of the block to get to the forum but for a few seconds i was looking for an x button)

Well I liked the look of the post-it note.

In terms of how to get people to register.  Are you looking for something other than the idea that anyone can read, but you have to register to post.  That's usually what makes me register some place.
