want to convert to SMF.. need help (host is a pain)

i need help trying to convert phpBB to SMF after the host gave me no alternative but to download the crap bb software. i have uploaded smf to a new folder but want to use the folder that phpbb is on..

the conversion and install guide is not really a big help for me as i have gone through it and still get confused.

May I ask what part of the conversion and install guide confuses you? Everything is explained in detail there. Anyway, the only thing that you gotta make sure is for the smf  having access to the database of the phpbb forum, cause otherwise you won't be able to convert. After you convert to smf then you can rename the folder where smf is installed to whatever you want and then gotta run the repair_settings.php file to update all the urls, paths and all that other settings. (you can find that tool at the download section here, under ''Tools'')
