Dear Conversion Gurus,
I have "inherited" the admin function for a community forum using DNF (Da NobodX Forum; discontinued French forum package, available for download Here [nofollow]) which is PHP based with no DB component (all data is stored in text files on the server and managed by PHP).

I currently manage two other community forums based on SMF and would love to be able to migrate this one to be the same

The forum PHP stores each topic in a separate text file on the server. I've included a sample file for reference.

I am not looking for a fully automated migration of all forum contents, I'm merely hoping to recover the user postings if at all possible (The users have been kind enough to confirm their willingness to register all their details in a fresh SMF installation if required).

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Regards
Chaku

No ideas or offers of assistance ;)
I dread the manual "parsing" of hundreds of text files...
I may dangle a little cash in front of you savvy devs (yes, the non-SMF core devs. The core crew, of course, cant be bought with a measly few dahlurz ;) )

Is this issue solved or do you still require assistance?

At this time our converter specialist is away. Do you know of any other software that has a converter that SMF has? You can use the old 3rd party trick and convert to them and then to SMF ;)

Still have yet to fully complete migration using a great piece of "paid" conversion code. New baby in the house took precedence ;)

The conversion code i have is not working perfectly and i hope to have teh time to work with the developer if he is willing. Otherwise, if the SMF conversion specialist is back and cares to take a look at the paid code to see if he can perfect it , I would be very grateful.

I can take a look into this for you in a few weeks.  Will require some work though.  Flat file converters are the hardest one's to make but possible to do.

Hello, Jay should be fully back in a week or two. Meanwhile, have you tried the conversion in the new server?

Please do not PM me with support requests unless I invite you to.

I'll be a bum off from school for almost a month so I will have more time to spend on SMF ;).
