I've got a problem. When I try to install ANY mod, the FTP Information Required form comes up.  I enter the information, then after about 30 seconds a blank screen comes up.

I have hosting through ipower, and didn' t have any problems before upgrading to 1.1.4 from 1.1.rc2 (or something like that)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Jim

This is the third person I've seen with this issue in the last days.  I know at least two of them, including you, have upgrade from previous very early versions of SMF.

Not sure if it's a host issue, or a problem with the core code.

can I ask.

Are you using the web-install for mods via the Package Server.
OR
are you downloading mods to your PC and then uploading them via Package Manager.

If you using the first option, I'd recommend/suggest trying the second method.

I was able to get one persons working via turning off the backup feature (create files with ~), which resulted in a working Package Manager.  So I think it is very host configuration specific.

interesting.

They could be running out of memory or timing out. (and getting a white page because php is set to hide errors maybe?)

Yes, sorry to say khampster I tried that option on your host.  But had no luck, for some reason your host is returning CHMOD status that isn't there.  Not sure of yours, as even with all affected file manually set too 777 it still prompted for FTP access (which didn't take).  It's like it's a path issue as well.

damn...

I have tried it both ways with the package manager.  Now I've tried turning off the backup option.  I have gone in with filezilla and chmoded everything to 777...  none of these options work.  Other php errors come back with other scripts running, this one just comes back with a blank page.

There was a post recently about changing the package server URL in the db to http://custom.simplemachines.org/ and that solved an issue with the package manager.   Try a recent search, I'll try to find it as well.
