SMF 1.0.5 fails to connect to MySQL 5.0.15

Looking for a cause...

Anybody else using MySQL 5 with SMF 1.0.5?

Looks like I'll have to roll it back to MySQL 4.1.15.   Grrrr.....  >:(

Yup, it connects to 4.1.15 just fine, everything the same as I had configured for 5.0.15. (I tried with and without the new "strict" settings of MySQL 5).

It would have been helpful if SMF had allowed the webserver to log the actual error instead of outputting the somewhat useless error message to the browser... I might have been able to determine the cause of the incompatibilty...

Bump... in hopes of getting a reply from Simplemachines. Or at least acknowledgment of the issue.

Hi.

Perhaps I can help you.  I edited some files in the "Sources" folder to become the compatible SMF with MySQL 5.  If you to want help, sends me an email or MSN:  [email protected].

Thanks for the offer of help Ricardo.SEP, most appreciated,  but I might as well wait for the official patch now.  Though, I am curious about what changes are required.
