I downloaded and installed SMF 2 Beta 3-1p full install package on 5/1.

Issue:
I have been customizing the style.css for the Classic template included in the core installation package, with generally good results, except for one issue. I found that the template was overriding the initial tr style of the main display area with a hard-coded embedded style:  background-color: #ffffff;  The result was a main display area table that always had a white background instead of the expected modified background color as defined in style.css.

Solution:
Edited \classic\index.template.php and eliminate all occurances of the hard coded embedded style: background-color: #ffffff;  This allows the styles defined in style.css to be fully effective.

Ron Goodman,

The developers are working on this for the next beta. They are planning a more semantic approach to the default theme. I am sure this will break the other themes provided with SMF so there will be work to fix these issues.
I am hoping things such as this are fixed for these themes :)
