Not sure if this is the right board for this, but here it goes.

I'm planning on making a move over to simplemachines because I heard about how easy to manage it is. One thing I need to find out first though is, can it display the news from a forum on an external homepage?

For example, I want the news from the "News Forum" to be shown at somesitename.com 's news section, which is separate from the forum. I know vBulletin can do this, but is it possible with simplemachines?

Well, you can either use SSI click here for a tut on how to use it

Alternatively you can use RSS

Arantor

Pretty much all things are possible. If you can let me know about the requirements you have I'll see what I can do though hadesflames has pretty much nailed it.

Ah thanks for the quick reply guys! Specifically, I want to be able to do the news like this site: http://web.archive.org/web/20031205143720/http://dbzrpgx.com/

I want 2 types of info from the forum to be exact, the "Latest threads" at the top and "News" from a specific news board (below the "lastest posts" in that link)

The entire log of news on the front page there is taken from the forums, and when you click "View comments" it'll take you to that thread.

I'd like to emphasize that this page isn't a portal page of the forum.

I'll take a good look at those links, but will I be able to do this specifically?

The SSI script should get your desired results =]

Yeah it looks like this is exactly what I want, thanks a lot guys.
