Adding an Upload Category

howdy!

so i want to be able to upload documents and photos to my private message board and have them reside in its own Category, so any of the 25 members on the board can, say, download  music license agreements in pdf form etc.

we've all switched over to using the board only now. no more emails to each other, just PMs and posts btw.

our board is awesome in every way. the only thing missing is a Category like the one i'd like to add.

i've checked all my Admin and don't see this is as a Choice.

is it a choice?

Afaik, apart from the attachments feature in posts- I don't think that can be archived in categories.
However, they are feature enhancements (plugins) available to enable such functionality.
We have the Download System mod that includes the fol.

• Uploadable or linked downloads
• Approval of downloads option
• Reporting of downloads
• Option to have comments on an download
• Subcategory support
• Ability to rate downloads
• Who is viewing download or category
• Category level permissions by membergroups
• File space manager to see which users are using up the most space
• Options to control category display settings
• Options to control download display settings
• Linking code options

This mod has proven to be very efficient.

For the Pictures, The SMF Gallery mod would perform better than the categories I believe, You can configure access to these features based on membergroup permissions and create various categories for images as you wish.

okay, the info you've given me is totally appreciated. i think i can make some of these options be what i need them to be - i can prolly make a Category right now called Downloads, then just post on it with an attachment....that the board users can then...download!

i'll read all the stuff when i have some time - i think that photo thang could come in handy too.
