Need Theme Help Please D:

Everytime I go to install a new theme by browsing to the RAR file its contained in, and uploading it that way, the theme doesnt work. Instead i get some nasty looking crap. This also happens when I manually use FTP to put all the files in =/. Im running 1.1.6 SMF, and the themes are listed as compatable with 1.1.6.

I am using Zymic hosting if that is needed to know. Please someone help me on why these themes arnt working!

You should be installing themes by using the package manager in the Admin Section.  Go to the theme site and save the /.zip file for the theme you want. Click on Admin then packages on the left.  Then click Download Packages up top.  Then scroll to the bottom where it says Package to Upload at the bottom.   Browse to the zip file you saved earlier and hit install.  The theme will be installed.

Umm, its a theme. So wouldnt I upload in the theme area and not the package area? o_O

Plus when I go to upload the theme that way:

The package you tried to upload either is not a valid package or has become corrupted.

Sorry I'm half asleep still.  Are you installing them through the themes and layout section in the admin panel.

Go to admin panel --> Themes and Layout --> in there look at the base and it says "Install a New Theme". In there click on browse, select the theme from your computer and then Install!. it will then install it.

To make it show to the public
Go to admin panel --> Themes and Layout -->

Overall forum default: change it to the theme you want.
Reset everyone to: change it to "Forum Default"

oh lolz..sorry.. turn your theme folder permissions to 777 ? it maybe not writable..

It isnt a big deal...

Just compress your theme files in a .ZIP format and then upload it and it's all fine.!

And I did it all by FTP instead. I CHMOD'ed to 777.
But now how do I add the theme in since I did it over FTP?

.RAR format isn't supported by SMF so you said yourself,I just gave my advice and insteadyou were offensive to that.
