500 internal server error

I have just transferred my sites hosting and am getting the following error on my forum;

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

How do I fix this?

I corrected this problem by CHMOD'ing the all folders in the forum directory to 755 and all files to 644.
