I have a forum thats getting hammered with spam from multiple IP's. Im manually blocking on the forum and in my cPanel. Is there a blacklist anyone here uses or recomends to do bulk bad IP additions?

Any suggestions are well welcomed!!

Thanx again.

No need to apologise. I just knew it was there.

I'm surprised it's not been stickied, really.

Since I have ya here.. ;-)
After I install the package do I need to manually make the 'file edits' to the PHP files or does the install do it for me?

MadMick

The package install adds everything except the questions, you add them in the spaces provided.

The thing works like a dream too btw, I installed when the SPAM explosion started and have not had one since  :D. Loads have tried though looking at the logs  8)

I just have my forum set to "By activation" and I'm always wary of hotmail and gmail addresses, as well as the obvious .ru stuff.

I just have my forum set to "By activation" and I'm always wary of hotmail and gmail addresses, as well as the obvious .ru stuff.

I manually approve each account and then send an activation link, I also get my mail server to bounce any mail back to a mail account I check regularly and anyone with a fake address obviously gets deleted right away (unless its an obvious spelling error). Its amazing just how many people can't spell their own name right ROFL  :D.

The other thing I have done is banned hotmail, yahoo, gmail  (basically all web based email) and or course .ru domains from registering as that's where most problems arise. Anyone that wants to join with a web address can of course email the admin with a request and then I manually register the account, hence why I found the issue on the manual registration page  ;D

But sending them the e-mail, to activate, will prove the address is fake, or not, anyway. If the address is fake, they won't get the mail telling them to activate!
