Newbie to SMF

Hi,
I am Olivia. I finally downloaded SMF yesterday. I was using PHPBB and it was terrible. I do not consider myself computer savvy or coding savvy. SMF seems to be quite user friendly so far. I was really surprised that my host tech guy installed it for me too. Usually I get the answer that they do not support 3rd party programs.

I have a couple questions though. I been reading alot on the boards and was wondering what does the term    RC  mean?

The other question I have is if I want to change themes do I have to stick with the version 1.1.7 or can I use earlier versions?

At the moment I am the only member in my forum since it is brand new and have not told anyone to it is open because I want to be able to explain to them how to use the forum.

I look forward to being an active member to the community here,,,if only to respond or start new topics as time goes by.

RC means release canidate, step up from beta releases.

You can use whatever theme you like (default, babylon, classic, custom).

When you look at a theme, you should take notice on which versions it supports. If you are using SMF 1.1.7 then you should be able to use any theme for any version of SMF 1.1-1.1.7. Welcome to SMF!
