Attention newbies: SMF themes best way to browse themes!

Hi,
while some might like the divisions on the "offical" SMF themes site which says "Fantasy, Professional" etc... there's a lot of clicking to try and preview each theme.

This one is better... you get instant previews of the whole theme.
Now, the BEST browser would let you select "professional" and THEN go to a drop down menu like this one and preview all the "professional" templates, or fantasy templates, or sci-fi, or whatever.

But this is pretty good, and a fast way to get a good snapshot!

Firstly I am glad you like SMF Themes, when redone approached me with teh idea I was excited to be part of it, it makes us all feel better when we see people love the site.

As for the part of your post I quoted, even though alot of my team on SMF Themes.org are also team members here, smfthemes.org is not affiliated with Simple Machines LLC and thus we are not technically the "official smf theme browsing site", why niot well at smfthemes.org as independant we can offer services and other things that fall outside the responsibility also means we can release paid themes and offer paid services.

Thanks for clarifying that. I guess what I was saying is that the official themes site needs a lot of work. Half the links to "demo" don't work any more, and there are inconsistent approaches to the screen shots. Some of them you have to download to see, whereas on your site you just scroll to the new theme and BANG there it is, interactive and all.

The best of both worlds for user browsing needs would probably require a lot more work to set up, but would also involve category tags or, depending on how it works, even other sub-directories that have "professional", "environmental", "blue", "orange", "fantasy and sci-fi" tags as well, and then users can just browse through those.

A lot of work though.

But you do seem to have selected some of the better themes. Some on the official site have clashing colours and cluttered layouts.

well the main site shows all themes that are available for SMF2 beta 4 where as we have a sub domain set up for 1.1.7 they both work in same way, however you do need to register on both seperatley
