Deleting message icons

Hello
I don't like the standard message icon (xx.gif) and wanted a blank one as default. So I uploaded a blank image of the same size and added it as a message icon, this worked well. Then I deleted the xx.gif message icon. But when I go to post a new post the image still shows up and it's the xx.gif icon that is checked by default! How do I fix this? I want the blank image as default and the other one not showing at all since I had deleted it!

Try emptying your browser's cache...

Nope, doesn't work! Emptied it but it's still there. I even tried deleting the files from my file manager but then the spot where the xx.gif was just says "current icon" instead and is still the default one selected. It turns out blank when used, but I still don't want it there. I already have a blank icon (that doesn't say "current icon") and I want that one to be the default selection.

Name your blank image xx.gif and use it to overwrite the original.
