this happened last time.

Usually my host has an upgrade to the newest version of smf.
i see the new version 1.1.10 is out & I wanna upgrade.

but when i did this last time. i did it on the forums first.
then tried to upgrade through my domain then something happened like it wasn't working my forum wasn't? uh what shall I do?

Reflection

Never upgrade through panels on your host. Only use the SMF terminal to upgrade.
Good "SMF" Portals
Tiny Portal [SMF 1.1.x only]
Simple Portal [SMF 1.1.x and 2.0]

Good "SMF" Theme Sites
SMF Themes [SMF 1.1.x and 2.0]
Dziner Studio [SMF 1.1.x and 2.0]

Alright.

I will take your word on this.
Because they tell me to do so.
Because it would stop hackers from happening.

Reflection

Generally host packages don't properly upgrade the software-- panels like Fantastico and such.

You're much better off manually upgrading SMF or using the SMF terminal to upgrade.

So in my admin page, where it says upgrade to 1.1.10 in my smf i can just click that & should ignore the upgrade thing on my hosting panel when it appears? i used to be through godaddy but i am not anymore & i never though upgrade through the panel on godaddy!

Reflection

Yeah, ignore the one on GoDaddy.
