Newbie: Should I downgrade due to bugs?

I just upgraded from SMF 1.1.10 to SMF 2.0 RC2 today with the help of my server because reading through the on-line manual it looked liked it had some cool features that I wanted.  Now I'm thinking I'm in over my head and that for a novice like myself it may be wise to go back to something that doesn't have so many bugs.  In particular there seems to be a lot of missing buttons or functions.  For example:

Admin>>Configuration>>Features and Options

Per the manual there should be additional buttons for
Basic features, Layout & Options, Karma, Core Features, Signatures, Profile Fields, Log Pruning

If I put my cursor where you'd expect the buttons to be, several unnamed buttons will appear to take me to some of these pages, but not all of them.

I'm assuming I'm not the first person to have this problem and I'm hoping that there is an easy fix.  I'm a complete novice.    So my question is this.  Have these problems already been resolved and can I patch or otherwise easily fix these little glitches all at once or would it be better for me to go back to the earlier SMF 1.1.10 version?

Dis you make a backup before you did the upgrade?

Regarding your issues, try to reupload the files once again and see if that would fix it.

I did follow the manual directions on making a backup yesterday just to try it.  I requested a support person from TMD hosting to do the upgrade for me today because I couldn't figure out how to do it myself.

So what I'm getting from your response is that this is not normal and that it's most likely a problem with the way the new version was uploaded.  So I'm going to try again to figure out how to upload SMF 2.0 RC2 and failing that I'll request TMD give me a hand again.  Thanks for responding.
