i said resemble..not making it the same ...thats not stealing ...there is not much original in this world...our ideas are all mix and match of what we see around us.

you don't have to copy exactly what's facebook is doing...but do something similar to what a "social networking site" looks like. vB 's isnt the same as facebook..its probably their design but it does give you the feel of a social networking site. Even Google's orkut tried doing something similar to facebook - although imo they just messed it up even more.

we dont need to go all the way to look like facebook or even vB ...but what we have right now is not keeping up with it.

"as that could appear that SMF is ripping off other software for its design " - lol you are saying as if all forum scripts look diferent except for a bit of colours and graphics thrown around...all forums basically look the same ....

why dont u try and make SMF look entirely different than any other forum script..and i am sure no one will use it....that's cause as a webmaster i will think ppl are not familiar with this forum look.

honestly, the profile is the LEAST part of the forum, in my opinion

Forums are about the message boards, the interaction... Anything else that you want to customize should be a MOD.

Honestly, speaking as an SMF manager here: SMF has a clean and clear profile system... there is no intention to make SMF into a facebook/social networking site. We focus on providing the best FORUM software. Others can and do make mods (and as an admin, I use several of those mods... but I do not think any of those mods belong in the core product)

Hey Nas, would this be like the Profile Comments mod, but just....well, more?

Well, you'd be able to post stuff to your wall, and either everyone, or only logged in members, or only your buddies could see it depending on your profile settings.
Based on the same setting, certain people can like and comment on your posts.
You'll also have a post made on your wall automatically when you make friends with someone, and maybe when you post a new topic.

But really, I do not know what will happen to this little mod. SimpleDesk is the most important now, followed by my little javascritp game engine.
