I empty my database of pm's so i do not have any pm info from my members . Now i do this by going into my mysql and truncating  the personal messages table . What i want to know is can i set something up so pms will still work but they dont get logged at all in database ? or maybe set something up so it auto deletes them every 7 days ? will pm system function without the table there ?

there is a mod that lets you do this I think it is called removepm.

You can use that mod. There really isn't a way to do this without it not being stored in the database. The table has to be there.

The problem is, what if members have PMs that they want to keep, you could end up deleting an important PM.

My members have no choice i made sure they know this when they became apart of our community and they know to expect a empty pm box every 7 days . anything they want is to be copied to their own pc , and most of them want the box clear of anything they sent it makes them feel safer .

thank you soo much - now does this just clear their inboxes or does it actually take whats needed out of the database completely ?
