Need help with calendar

I'm using SM 1.1.8  and classic Theme, and trying to get the calendar working.

I've tried moving Calendar.template.php from default to classic theme, and ManageCalendar.english  (from languages) but STILL get the following error message:

"Template Parse Error!
There was a problem loading the /Themes/classic/Calendar.template.php template or language file. Please check the syntax and try again - remember, single quotes (') often have to be escaped with a slash (\). To see more specific error information from PHP, try accessing the file directly.

You may want to try to refresh this page or use the default theme."

I've tried using the default theme,  but it doesn't have the changes I've made to template.php

Board is:  http://www.4x4trailfinders.com

I hope someone(s) can find what I need to do to get this fixed, short of creating a totally new board, and it be only for a new calendar.

TIA,

Ken

You shouldn't be moving files from the default theme to other themes, if a theme doesn't have the file, it just goes to the default theme file.

First, I would highly suggest upgrading to SMF 1.1.11 due to several security holes.

You can do this by uploading a large upgrade package, that will also give you a fresh set of files which should clear up your problem. Note that it will get rid of any mods you may have.

As far as I am aware the calendar should have been there anyway, it just needed to be enabled in the admin panel  ???

The calendar is enabled,  there *IS* a calendar button on top,  but it just renders the error message I posted.

Desperation prevails, but I'll delete the two calendar items default from classic

I did upgrade to 1.1.8  a while ago in hopes the calendar would appear, no luck

I *HATE* upgrades with a passion, and avoid them as much as possible, because it kills all the "special" things I've done,  so I'm frankly waiting for 2.0 to become stable, before I take that chance.  Upgrades are the only thing I can complain about with SM,  seems I spend a lost day fixing things after I upgrade, and can't afford the time for less than major releases.

Why can't the calendar be fixed in 1.1.8 ?

Well 2.0 is pretty stable right now in my opinion, and in many others.

As far as your problem, do you have any problems using the default theme? What mods do you have installed?

Would the default theme fix the calendar issue?   The only problem I have with using default is that I've made all of the changes to only the classic theme.

If it would for sure cure the lack of calendar.  I could sync the two themes.

I have no mods, from SM, only my headings, and some other smaller changes.

If RC is stable, I'd still have an update to final, if I were to go there now, and I've already expressed disdain for an upgrade, until pretty darn solid or final releases.

Thanks for the help.

Maybe. You can always try it, its not like it will hurt.
