Error categories

2.0 has the ability to filter errors based on category, e.g. undefined index, general, database.

In SimpleDesk I added a small hack to split out what are very likely SimpleDesk errors into their own category, so it's easier to see.

What I'm wondering now is whether this should be expanded, and whether I should remove it from SimpleDesk and turn it into a larger more complex mod that knows about more and more mods. So if you get an error in the error log, there's a reasonable chance you can identify which mod may have caused it.

For convenience purposes there should be a facility like Aeva's sitelist, which has the ability to update the list of known mods periodically.

It wouldn't be foolproof, of course, but if it can be narrowed down that'd help, I think and I think it'd help support requests, though I don't know yet about having it go back through the existing error log to refilter.

It's not a bad idea really, but, it can be a little bit harder with most kind of mods (specially when someone adapt an old mod to a new SMF version like 1.1.11 or RC3 ).

Sure, which is why I said it wasn't fool proof, but I know that the SD specific version has helped me already sort out what are genuine SD errors from what aren't.

I think you should do it, and then...
