Changed admin username and the password that was sent doesn't work

Hi there,
I apologise if this has been discussed before, I cant find anything due to my current panic.

I have changed the admin username and the passord that was sent doesn't work ! I also had the site in maintenance mode when I did this as I have been doing some changes this morning.

I would appreciate any help to get logged in as admin again and save doing a complete restoration.

However I need to correc what I just posted. I can login with the new username and the password that was emailed to me.

The problem is that i get the Maintenance Mode page instead of the Admin access. Does this mean that the Admin account access was lost when I changed the user name?

that's correct. if you had admin rights you should see the forum despite the info about maintenance mode

Open Settings.php at the root of your forums and change the value for $maintenance to 0. That should get you access to your forums.

I ran it on the first admin name and it did nothing but I ran it on the new username I changed admin to and I got the following;

Your SQL query has been executed successfully ( Query took 0.0069 sec )

So then I logged in again with the new user name but still dont have admin rights. So therefore I cant get past the maintenance mode page.

If I do what kays has suggested and get the maintenance mode off, I assume I still wont be able to do admin stuff?

So I think now the problem is getting admin rights onto the new username that I changed the sdmin account to?

if $maintenance is set to 2. Then you could be locked out. Set it to 0 which is the normal value and take it from there.

Hi again, so happy now thankyou everyone, I went into the members database and changed the username back to what it was and all fixed
