Grabbing topic replies

I'm not getting any response on the support forum for this mod so I thought I'd ask a few questions here. The mod I'm using is ssi_topic, which works for me on other pages.

First of all, when I look at ssi_examples (http://www.dotswoof.com/forum/ssi_examples.php) i get some error about redeclaring shutdown. What would cause this problem?

I guess my other question would be, how would I go about doing what this mod does on my own? The mod allows me to grab all the replies from a topic and display them in the same manner as I would display a post using boardnews.

SSI isn't a mod, it is just a core feature in SMF.

Actually it was a mod that edited the SSI.

With the redeclaring, it means you have the code listed twice.
