Adding a small graphic defining some member groups

Is there any way to add a small graphic defing Admins, Mods, Dev Team Members etc, a small graphic that would have the member group name on it and fit under the member's name?

What they do here is swap the star image for a membergroup to a small banner image in the images folder.

Just create a different sort of image, rather than using stars. 

Also, you might find something helpful if you click the Customize button at the top of this page and, in Modifications, do a search for "Badges".  (But they're easy to create, yourself.)
