Trouble after moving to new host

I recently moved my boards from one host to another and followed the guides here about backing up the "public_html" files and database, then moving it all to the new host.  One problem I'm having is that the database name cannot remain the same, because the old database name was 25 characters long and GoDaddy only allows 15 characters in the database name.  So I tried just creating a new database and importing the .sql file, which finished with no errors, but it was missing the SMF_Settings entry.  The forum wasn't able to connect to the db, and gave an error indicating that.

When I do a clean install of 1.1.11 and import the old database into it, everything shows up fine at first glace, but then when you try to view a thread by clicking on the link, it says "The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you."  This is with an Admin account, which is functioning correctly in the admin panel.

When you click into a board, the posts are not show, but you can click on the post links from the forum home screen.   A user can post a new topic, but when it's clicked on to view, this is the error that's generated:
Database Error
Unknown column 'a.file_hash' in 'field list'
File: /home/content/59/4766459/html/GP/Sources/Display.php
Line: 711

Any help that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.  The users all imported and they can sign in and their old profile info is available.  I took this over from another owner, so I'm kind of exploring to find what's been set up / modified.  The forum was still running 1.1.4a version of SMF, which is why I didn't want to do a clean install, but rather just move all of the files and db over.

I solved the problem with new posts by upgrading the database to 1.1.11.  Still have problems with old posts.

Welcome to SMF mrn8!

Try using repair_settings.php and fix your database settings along with the paths.
