Help Me I Can't Install My SMF

i am having problem installing my SMF 1.1

my settings are as follows

1. MySQL server name: localhost

2. MySQL username: cpUsername_SMF

3. MySQL password: **********( this is also my cp password)

4. MySQL database name: cpUsername_SMF

5. MySQL table prefix: smf_


with all the above settings, i am receiving this error:

Cannot connect to the MySQL database server with the supplied data.

If you are not sure about what to type in, please contact your host.
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

I've merged your identical topic on 1.1.x support with this one.

If you're sure your database username and password are correct, your problem may be with "localhost".  Log into your phpMyAdmin and look to see what your server name is.  On some of my forums I can get away with "localhost" but on others (different servers) I must put the server name.  Contacting your host will also sort this for you.
