I'm sure that this question has been asked, but I simply can not find an answer that fixes my problem.

When converting my forums over, everything functions properly, except all passwords are incorrect(lost?).  I know that this is a known problem because of the phpBB3_Login_fix.xml  file.

To use the login fix, am I supposed to load up the file previous to the conversion (Since I can't log in after)?  I guess I don't understand the steps I'm supposed to take to get it to work.

Sorry if this has been asked, and thank you in advance for the help!

**After I typed this out, I went back and tried what I asked, and it worked, though now my admin account no long has admin access**

*After that, naturally, I found the post about losing admin access, so I queried :

UPDATE smf_members SET ID_GROUP = '1' WHERE memberName = 'yourusername'

naturally changing yourusername to my admin name, and it worked.

I have solved my problem, sorry for the post!

No worries. Everyone has questions and it feels even better when you answer your own question! I had the same problem when converting from phpBB3. Enjoy SMF and best of luck to you and your site!

Now that I'm more familiar with it, I decided to load a test on the actual server.  When I load up the login_fix, during the test phase, I get an error I did not get on my test server:

1.     Execute Modification     phpBB3_Login_Fix.xml     Modification parse error

What shall I do?

Use this. This is the package that you need to upload. Notice that it is an archived package file ".tgz", not ".xml".

Upload this the same way you would upload a package and apply.

You generally recieve this when either the mod package is corrupted. You can also get it when temp folder in /Packages does not exists or isn't writable.
