I've been on Holiday for some time and when i came back and checked my emails it said my hostgator bill is overdue, and now when i try and access my forum i get a blank white page with this URL http://forumsforamybradley.com/cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi [nofollow]

Pay your bill, and your site will come back online.

HG normally allows a 10 day grace period for payment. If payment is not more than 10 days past due then they may reactivate upon request. Otherwise, you may have to pay a reactivation fee. Or in a worst case scenario, chalk it up to lesson learned and start over from scratch.  Hopefully you have back ups?

It often depends on how long overdue. Hostgator may not be top choice but they do pride themselves on allowing payment to be as much as 10 days late before taking action.

If your forum is small and less traffic then free hosting is OK but when it's grown up big and more traffic then you face problem. If you think big then go with paid hosting.

In all reality, if a person can afford to, then no matter how busy your site is, it's best to go for paid hosting.
Free hosting is so limited, no matter what the host usually states.

Paid hosting is the best.
You can sleep at night time knowing your web sites will always be up and running on line.
While free has its lurks and draw backs, i have before been with a free hosting some time ago, even running a chat site on one of them by asking the permissions of the owner of the server without any problems. He even told me it was ok to do so.
While you need to be careful as a while ago i was with 000webs just for testing things out, when one day i have had my whole website removed, due to lack of visitors or hits as they say.
i lost my whole content. They locked me out.
Also you need to be weary that if your site does get popular then you run the risk of these hacker stealing your site.
And there is no come back or trying to contact them is completely pointless.
Just keep this in mind.
But not all of them are like this.

Hmm its been 10 days since your last post asking how to add a meter. Im sure you would have known by then the site was due and even if it was that day must have been the due date.

Since Hostgator normally allow grace for a late payment as ARG has told you im thinking this post is bull****** and you knew your site was going to die.

Really? 10 days? Look at the date, November 25, 2014 is NOT 10 days, it is 20.
And yes, a person could go on Holiday in that time, and come back to an unpaid account, as a lot of people tend to lose track of the time for renewing. I've had it happen where I've forgotten when something had to be renewed.

However, I do tend to agree that this one in particular seems odd, as there was no real reason to post this topic here, since SMF has nothing to do with Hostgator hosting.

Correct. Hostgator is not shy about sending out plenty of reminders. Couple this with their 10 day grace period and it allows any customer sufficient time to make payment.  But since the OP has not replied since yesterday, I find it difficult to consider this an urgent issue and believe the account was probably closed simply due to irresponsibility.

Imo, the best solution now is to "chalk it up to lesson learned and start over from scratch."
