Re-registration Bug

I believe I found a bug yesterday in the 2.0 software.

My friend got the forum running. Right away, I signed up for an account (which registered successfully), however I decided to delete it because by accident I made my username my e-mail. When I tried to reregister under that e-mail address, the system thought that I was already registered and would not let me reregister, even though my account was deleted (as it didn't appear on Members and when trying to log in, I was told account didn't exist).

E-mail registration wasn't on to my knowledge, and this is the 2.0 Final software.  No mods, this was just the out-of-the-box forum software, as it was just when the forum was made.

Thanks.

Douglas

Check to make sure that your friend doesn't have Admin Authorization before accounts are deleted.

Admin area > Security and Moderation > "Require admin approval when member deletes account" (If that's checked, then your account is probably still active and needs to be deleted by an Admin).

Let us know if that's checked or not.

has this issue been resolved?

If the message you received is:
Sorry, but you're not allowed to register multiple accounts at the same time from the same computer.
is an anti-spam feature that doesn't allow to create accounts within the same session (so it's usually enough that you close and open the browser and you can register again).
It could be considered a bug (since the session variable is nod destroyed when deleting

BTW, this control doesn't work any more in trunk (don't know if it is intentional or not), at least it doesn't work as it was working in SMF 2.

Take a peek at what I'm doing! ;D

You mean this particular "same session" registration check? I plead innocent! Unless I'm not.
SVN blame. :)
To-do lists are for deferral. The more things you write down the later they're done... until you have 100s of lists of things you don't do.
