need some help about my users registration and location

Is there a way I can require users to set their location upon signing up. I have a weather forum and would like their locations to so users know where they are from. And where is the setting so the location and join date show up under their names on their posts?

read last part of question too. I edited it. Also is there a way I can upgrade to 2.0? I just opened it through godaddy and they didnt have 2.0 as an option.

Upgrading is really simple, and I highly suggest it. Although - 2.0 Final will be out soon, so you may consider waiting until 2.0 Final is out so you don't have to upgrade twice in a row, although it's not really a big deal either way.

seems pretty confusing to me lab. I guess it wouldnt be as bad, but going through godaddy makes it more difficult.
