Hi,

Before we go to my problem I am going to tell some history of my site...
Ok. I started a forum and installed mods and 1 mod ruined my forum, I have
managed to fix them myself since I never got a support from the creator of that mod.
I installed another mod which does not seems to work in my forum, which worked
perfectly on my other forum (maybe the first mod that ruined my forum made it not to work properly)

Now, my hosting (Santrex) went offline with the below error message:
Quote
Network Error (tcp_error)
A communication error occurred: "Operation timed out"
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing
it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.
For assistance, contact your network support team.

After few hours my site went online again! (Thanks God!)

After a day my site went offline again with the same message as above.
I waited for 2 days and it is still offline. I already sent them support ticket,
live chat thing, even email the admin.. After more than 38 hours my site went
online again but now with the below error:
Quote
Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

I checked my settings.php and everything is correct. I tried to access 'myphpadmin'
and I can't log in. I emailed again santrex to help me resolve the issue but I don't
think I will wait again for another 34 hours just to end up with another problem)?

I tried installing again a new smf to a sub domain and everything is working good.
Now I don't  know if the problem is from the hosting or from my side.

I would really appreciate all the help that I can get.

I am using SMF2.0 RC 4
Hosted at Santrex
my forum has only around 64 members
around 3000+ post.

It sounds like your host is having trouble. If you can change your database account information, you can try to do so and use the new database account information for your SMF installation. Other than that, it's really something you'll need to contact your host over.

hi 青山 素子,

Thanks for your reply.
I don't know how t use the new database account information
to connect to my old database.. since there's no way for me to access
myphpadmin. Is there any other way that I could fix that? I am really
new to this so please bare with me a bit. ;)

Thank you,

NanoSector

It can be, because your host had trouble, that the MySQL server is down for a while.

hi Simple Series team,

Thank you for your reply.
I think I need to move to a new hosting.

Can anyone recommend me a hosting that is personally used
in his/her own forum please...

My budget is around 6-8$/month, or if you can recommend
hosting company that is good for a 'beginner' forum....

Regards

P.C. Tweakr's Pro package is $8 a month, which is a really good package. It is more for forums that really are in need of resources though.

The other plans are also good for a beginners forum.

I say, try the free package to see if you like it!
