SMF or phpBB

Hello,

I have a question that I am planning to install a forum on my site hxxp:htajunction.co.cc [nonactive] and getting confused that what forum should I choose cause Fantastico offers me two type of discussion boards one is phpBB and second is SMF. Although I have used SMF but my forum got hacked and have no idea about phpBB.

Kindly let me know which one is best.

Why not compare the features of both to see which fits your forum's needs better

Your forum was probably hacked due to something you or one of your members did. Take a look at SMF's security record compared to phpbb's.

You can get cracked if your password isn't strong enough. Use something like 28de7h34 or even Hd78S.k20 and you should be fine. Make sure your e-mail password is hard to guess too, and make sure all your staff's passwords are, as well.

Another thing: Make sure none of them enable auto-login on public computers. One of my member's account got compromised last week because of that.

I'd personally go with SMF. phpBB is known to have a lot of problems with security issues, and if you do your research you can see phpBB's record for security problems is quite large compared to SMF.

Trust me i have phpbb forum and now i want move all post topic and user to new host and SMF.Why i want do it becouse phpbb it s Big S**t.Constant problem with Automod and mods problem with stability,security problem just name it.I am testing SMF almost Month and compare it with phpbb you can say it SMF it s Ferrari and phpbb it s the Bike..

I have installed SMF because phpBB is totally new thing to me and I guess I can handle SMF instead of phpBB ... I just asked because of mods availability .... and I have decided to stick with SMF.
