List of joinable usergroups

This is going to be kind of hard to explain, but I'll try to. I'm using SMF 2.0 RC4 and am kind of new to 2.0. I was using 1.1 until now (it's the version provided by the hosting I bought).

This is a view of what I'm talking about for an admin profile, but basically this is a listing of the user groups that I (and essentially my members) can join. I want to know if there's any way for me to access a general listing of user groups that I make that -everyone- will be able to access...so not something that I'll only see in the ACP, but something that everyone can access. Right now, the only way to access it is through your profile, but I want to be able to access it without having to go to my profile. Does anyone know if this is possible, or is it not something that's available right now? Thanks in advance.

:| Anyone know the answer to this? I'd really like to know if it's possible for my members to access some sort of list or if I'm the only one who can.

If it's a join-able group, other members (non-admins) can view that page.

There is no interface to only view user-joinable groups except through your profile there.

What page? The only thing I can find is the list in people's profiles, but I wanted to know if there was a general listing that everyone to be able to access outside of their profiles.

Yeah, that's what I figured. :| Is there any possibility of that happening in the next software update or whatever? I think it'd definitely be a good thing to have for those who decide to utilize the joinable groups feature.

You can make an another account, and trying different member groups on it. With each member group see that "Member group" page in profile and see what groups those member groups can see.

So you mean have it join pretty much every usergroup available to members and then just link to that account's profile so that members can see the list of groups? :| Not a bad idea...I wish there was a way that came with the forum that just listed the groups automatically like I originally asked about. Is there any chance of that being added? I'm a member of a board (not hosted on SMF) that used to have pretty much exactly what I'm talking about but they've changed it 'cause they added an entirely different feature for the groups, so I can't even link to it any more.

Sorry for the late response, but I'm still having an issue. I made the test account, had it join every group that the members can join, but when members click on the link to join the groups, it just shows their profile summary, not the groups that they can join. :| I thought I had resolved this but apparently not. There WAS a page, when I first got my board, that members were able to go to because I'd linked them, but I think what happened is I deleted the account the page was on, so they couldn't get to the groups any more to join them.

But it does the same thing as the ACP. >.> I want the members to be able to join/leave groups easily without my having to add them to it through the ACP.

JediKnightMuse,

SMF does not provide a way to do what you wish to do.

The easiest way for you to make it easy for members to see which groups they are allowed to join is to provide them a link to
(your forum)/index.php?action=profile;area=groupmembership

Okay, so from my understanding, as long as you're logged in, that link should work. I think that's the link I was using before, but then I deleted the test account and it didn't work any more. Thank you. :)

Illori

you would not be able to join a group as a guest so viewing that page as a guest would not make sense.

Angelina Belle

That link should work for every logged-in user, whether or not you have any test accounts.
What won't work is if you add ;u=<userid>.  That would only work for the one user that the userid belongs to.

The link I gave you above should work for every logged-in members.

Does that solve your problem?
