Installing SMF

I am always getting an error msg when i try to install the SMF
"The installer was unable to detect MySQL support in PHP. Please ask your host
to ensure that PHP was compiled with MySQL, or that the proper extension is
being loaded."

please let me know whats the exact solution...

I have MySQL
5.0.9-beta-win32
and PHP 4
OS Windows XP with IIS
