Keep getting this error message:

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 1.1.14, while your database is at version 1.1.11. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

I downloaded the latest version and it is in the "public_html/smf "  directory and I have tried every combination to get the upgrade to work, it just won't upgrade.  Would really appreciate anyone helping that knows how to do this.

Run the large 1.1.14 upgrade (not the smaller update) from scratch.  Download a clean zip, extract the files, upload them to your server, and run upgrade.php.  If it won't run, should throw an error.  What is it?
