2 Suggestions: Topic Posts & Threads with unread messages

Suggestion One:

I think that the topic post (ie, this is the topic post of this thread) should be displayed on the top of every page of the thread. If you don't understand me, go to hxxp:www.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/Ultimate.cgi [nonactive] and check out a thread with multiple pages. You will notice that the topic post is on the top of every page.
I think SMF should do that.

Suggestion 2:

I think that threads that have been posted in since the user's last visit should be on the top of the board. Again, check out any board at hxxp:www.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/Ultimate.cgi [nonactive] (you would have to be registered though) and you will see what I mean. If you couldn't be bothered registering there, I'll try to explain it a bit more here.
If a thread has a new post(s), I think it should be displayed above the other threads. The threads with the most recent posts should be on top, know what I mean?

And here's a suggestion for the SMF Community forum (I know its in the wrong board).

Why enable pruning?  I never understand what some people have against not deleting things... there are some very valuable old topics, and I'm not going to find every last one and sticky or save it somehow... and in either case, who are the other topics hurting?

As for stickying unread topics, imho people who want to see just unread topics can look at "unread topics" which will list only them.

I don't mean stickying unread topics, just displaying them above the read ones.

EDIT: And I don't think you should use prune & delete old topics, I think they should be hidden or achived, but can still be found with the search function.

New topics or topics with new posts appear above the other ones as far as I remember...
But your first suggestion sounds good. But then I would keep it a bit more seperated from the other replies in that topic.

Exactly, have the background colour of that post a different colour, possibly a brighter colour.

I agree with ur suggestion.

To get it one step further, I would suggest the post of the topic not to be based on the date,
resulting always the first post to be on top,
but to moderator's will.
Sth like sticky of a thread.

Many times someone opened a topic and afterwards I had to edit his post of the topic,
in order to add some lines with instructs, infos etc.
