Hi

I'm not sure if this is the right section, but I have some questions.

I would like to build a community site for an old game and these are the options I can think of:
1. Wordpress/Joomla site + SMF Forum with Tinyportal
2. Just an SMF Forum with Tinyportal

I've browsed this section but I only see child boards for Joomla and Mambo.

Is there a good working bridge for wordpress aswell? And what does that mean exactly? For example what happens to my currently existing SMF users? Would they have an account on wordpress all of a sudden? Or would they have an account on the forum, but not able to reply on for example newsitems on the main page?

Could anyone btw give me few examples of people who have linked wordpress with SMF forums/portals?

Thanks a lot :)

why do you want WordPress or Joomla?

that is the main question.

I am pretty sure that nearly everything that can be done in Joomla can be duplicated via an SMF mod

Wordpress as just a blog... there are two or three blog mods for SMF
Wordpress as a site-manager...   you already have SMF, why bother with WP?

Because wordpress has a bigger community that releases more mods/plugins on a frequent basis?

well, wordpress is a blog system. smf is a forum system.
they target two different types of sites...   a forum is for a community site where there is much interaction between users. A blog is for a site at which one or two people post their thoughts and everyone else reads/responds. It's not a community.

So, figure out what you want your site to be, first, then choose the software.

and, again...   I am not certain that WP actually has a "bigger" community.
