I have SMF from some of the earliest versions... more than 4 years... in that period we have instaled multiple mode and avery of those modes have put something in MYSQL DATBASE...

So we constantly have problmes...

Current Version is SMF2.02

How to reinstall database ?

My idea was to install completely new forum (all files delete from server, and upload clean SMF 2.02) and then just to rename some old database tables for example

smf_attachments
smf_personal_messages
smf_messages

but i want to be sure not to miss one ... could somebody put a full list of tables that needs to be renamed?

also is there some other way for this ?

autarh - unfortunately I don't entirely understand what you want to do.

Are you saying you want to update all your existing files to 2.0.2 but retain the existing data in your database ?

You can simply run the upgrade package then it will update your database with any new required fields etc at the same same.

If thats not quite what you mean then can you try explaining your problem again; also what version are you currently on ?

in last 4 years, i have installed a lot of mod on my smf and reinstall them, but  there is a lot of their code left in database... some like SMF_MOD_NAME i have found and deleted ... but i guess some of their code is left somwhere ... database is about 100mb so u see my problem...

i want to save only essential stuff like users, messages, atachments and other stuf...

Sounds like you're confusing apples and oranges.  Some mods will create their own database tables.  Usually easy to identify them, but in any event they're ignored by SMF when the mod is uninstalled, and shouldn't cause problems.  All mods will modify your forum code, and some don't uninstall cleanly, but if you reinstall 2.0.2 from the full install or large upgrade package, it will fix all the modded files.  You can run into problems if the mods have left behind changes in the SMF database in any of the basic tables, but you can't delete those tables without trashing the forum.

What kind of problems are you experiencing?

sorry for delay on my side....
i want to clear everything in database that has come from mods...

for example... i have deleted all files of my forum except atachments, install a new forum and then change setings.php (put old setings)

Google Analytics has remebered my code...
Ads manager has somehow remembered my setings  i have deleted couple od ADS table obivously no all
All chats or shoutbox that i have isntalled have the same problem not showing post...

always the same mistakes...

so i fixed problems with files , now they are clean , is there any way to do similar thing with database and save all necesery data (messages, posts, atachments, users, password, pm....) ?

Illori

you would have to ask each mod author where those settings are stored in the database and remove them, there is no automatic way to do this at this time.

autarh

i know that that woyuld be normal way ....
so that is why i asked is there some specific data tables that i need to save...

i know to recognise some specific like messages, users and etc .. but can somebady give me some list that will be more less precies ?

Illori

some mods actually put there data into the default tables, so without asking them you could still leave the stuff behind.

autarh

let me put question in different way

if i only save :

messages
users
provate_messages
atachements
board permisions
boards
categories
membergroups
members
permisins
personal mesages

and for other TABLEs i move  tables from new instalation , will it work ?

Well, you can simply have the database as it is, use the new files, update/upgrade your forum to the latest version and that is sufficient.

The files will only fetch the data it needs. Rest of the data will be untouched. So, if you leave those entries as they are, it doesn't matter.
