Linking users with my main website

So I have a question about the forums and if there is a way to incorporate it on my website with registered users.  I can install the forum on my domain, but I want to know if there is a way to link users (so basically if a user creates an account on my website, they can then go to the message board and use the account that they created on my website instead of having to create another account).

Please let me know if that is possible, it would be really great.

Thanks

there are several ways to do this...  via a bridge with another software, using SSI or integration hooks in SMF or building your site-> SMF with the SMF_API

However...   unless you are running your website with a software that is already bridged, all of it depends on you being able to program the interaction/integration.

(side note: feature requests is NOT the section to ask questions on "how to" -- moving your post)

Thanks for letting me know that it is possible.  Couple of follow up questions:

Can I integrate the forums as an i-frame platform (so it still looks like the forum is part of my website and isn't part of a separate program)

I don't know coding, so I'm not sure if I would be able to create the bridge of accounts.  However, I am trying to incorporate a facebook log in so users can use my website through facebook and not have to deal with creating an account.  If I am able to successfully get the facebook connection, would that be one of the "bridges" to allow users to use the forum while logged on?  Any help or more specifics would be really helpful.  I am trying to find a computer programmer to help me out, but any help for me and for them would be huge.

Thanks so much

No... Using an iframe s a bad idea and may cause issues with sessions.

There s a ace book integration mod... But the set still as to log in with a forum account, it just allows the user to pre-populate the registration using the Facebook info.
Unfortunately, having SMF use a completely extrernal system for users would require a complete rewrite of the entire system.
