Images not showing..

So im sure this has been brought up before but i can't seem to find it..

Errors to be found: I searched the Error log but i have not found anything that looks like it might cause a problem.  nothing looked like it would relate to the images not showing up..

Problem - The stars, where the staradmin.gif, starmod.gif, star.gif and such would be, they aren't showing up.  What is, in turn showing up is asterix (*) symbol in turn.  I used Fillzilla to upload the files and am using hxxp:hostgator.com [nonactive] but im not sure if that is of any use to the help.  I have tried multiple theme's, i have switched from Classic, to default, to synthetic, and 2 or 3 others and they all seem to be having no change.

At this point im just beyond stumped on what i should do, or could do to fix it.

Any and all help or a figure to a place i may be helped is much appreciated.

Is there any chance that you ended up transferring image files in ASCII format instead of binary? That would irreversibly corrupt them. FileZilla is notorious for picking the wrong transfer mode when you select "automatic". Anyway, you can try directly displaying an image (http://yourdomain/path/staradmin.gif) and see if they display correctly. Maybe you uploaded them to the wrong directory? If it's the right directory but the file doesn't display, upload them again, being very careful to do it in binary mode.
