Hello,

Can it is possible that "newbie" can not post new topics without "Admins or Moderator" approval...

Please help me out...:)

Thanks.....

kat

If you go to Admin>Permissions and click on "Modify", alongside "newbie", you can scroll down to the "Global Board Permissions" section.

In there, you'll see "Post new topics, but hide until approved" and "Post replies to topics, but hide until approved".

Check whichever of those you fancy. :)

This assumes that you're using SMF v2.

Thanks for reply..

Yes, I'm using SMF 2.0.2 version. But there is no 'Modify' link with 'newbie' underneath  Admin>Permissions. I'm attaching my admin screenshot herewith.

Thanks...

Know something? Neither does it show on my forum. I suspect that it's because it's a post-count group. But, I have no idea why it's like that and I can't figure-out how to modify their permissions, myself, either.

How ludicrous is that?

Let's hope that someone else can put us out of our misery, coz that really doesn't make any sense, to me.

I'll keep looking around and, if I figure this out, I'll let you know.

kat

Well, how peculiar...

Seems you have to go to Admin>permissions>settings and "Enable permissions for post count based groups" before it shows, under permissions.

How silly's that?!?!

You have also to enable "post moderation" before the permission "Post new topics, but hide until approved" shows up...

Permissions for post count groups are not enabled by default, neither is the post moderation feature.

I think this is fine, since they're less used than the opposite. (afaik). The options to enable them of course exist.
To-do lists are for deferral. The more things you write down the later they're done... until you have 100s of lists of things you don't do.

Wouldn't it make some kind of sense to put all these things on one page, though?

Or, at least, a note saying "Post-count groups will not be shown, here, unless blah-blah" is set?

There's no way that I'd've figured that out, myself.

I only got there because Illori someone sent me a PM about it. ;)

Kays

Just my two cents worth here.  :P

It would be less confusing if all member groups are shown on the permissions page. Include a note indicating which permissions mode is in use and the fact that any permissions in a post count group will be used if there's no such permission in the Regular Member group. And vice versa.

If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer. If that fails, read the manual.
