Keep New Post/No New Post Icon on Redirect Boards

Is there a way to do this? I cant figure this out. Any help?

Im trying to emkbed a chatroom into a board that is only accessible to specific member groups, effectively hiding it from other membergroups.

However the chatroom looks janky and cluttered when its directly in teh middle of a forum. So I figured thats fine, lets just make a board and then have the real board with teh chatroom be a child board of teh fake board, giving the fake board no description. Since child boards dont show descriptions on the main forum index thats perfect. But of course when doing that you find out the redirect board wont reflect any new posts on teh child board your redirecting it too.

So is there a way to allow redirect boards to give new post icons or is there a better way to do what Im trying to do?
