I cannot run queries so will have to ask my host if he will.

Will that reveal the place that the error's happening--the file or files it originates from?

Thank you so much for responding. We need this taken care of ASAP.

butch2k

As far as i can tell the issue comes from the Member and Memberlist page.
I do not use this mod but i believe the number of subaccounts must appear somewhere on the members page. Indexing engines might be responsible for the queries if there are many bots indexing members at the same time.

wynnyelle

That's interesting, because we put that member list off limits to everyone but administrators some time ago. Or do you mean the members database tables or something?

butch2k

The queries are used at different places but one of them seems to be used by the user management part of SMF and most likely the memberlist. I do not know this mod but use the CREATE INDEX i sent you as this index is clearly missing from the subaccounts table. How many members and subaccounts do you have on your forum ?

Did you manage to obtain the explain i requested some posts ago ?

wynnyelle

I have around 50,000 member and subaccounts in total.

What would running that query do? I've never run a query on my own and get really nervous at the prospect. Very sorry :(

Trekkie101

Creating a new index will simply add like a phone directory for MySQL to follow, well placed index's will speed up its operation a fair bit, badly placed ones will hurt performance a bit.

However butch2k has been around here a good while, and his suggestions and results have often warranted improvements/looks into parts of SMF code, especially as a big board operator he knows his stuff. You can always roll back what he suggests and also index's are easy to remove once created.

wynnyelle

Oh I believe he knows what to do. I just don't trust myself to take all the steps right to run a query.

wynnyelle

Live is really the one I need help from since he did the code. I don't know how to run queries and could risk damaging my site.

wynnyelle

Has anyone seen or heard from Live? I need his help with this.

Might be better to contact Live, rather than keep bumping, GS.

He knows what his code was. We don't. ;)
