Please review and Critique my Plan to unistall old version of tapatalk

First of I started this question here http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=496894.0 and at the time did not have a clue, but may not be as cluess now, on how to proceed. Here is the short story.

I picked up the Tapatalk mod from SMF website.

Turns out that Mod was an old version posted awhile ago and has been superseded by a newer one.


I think I'm ready to uninstall the old version of TapaTalk and install the new version.

This is my plan please review it and make sure I'm ok.

1) I will make a copy of the detail file from the backup that was done befoe the install of Tapatalk (done)
2) I will uninstall through the package Manager egnoring the warning on the Detail file
3) Using SmartFTP I will make a copy of the current Detail file
3) Using Smart FTP I will overlay (replace) the current Detail file with the backup file.
4) This should put my Forum back to where it was before the install of the old version of Tapatalk.
5) Here I have a problem as I do not know which one to download Which is the correct one?http://tapatalk.com/forum_owner.php?action=add&plugin=smf

6) Once the corrct version is identified I will download it and install with the package manager

Correct?? I'm new to this and old to programming, no recompile or reassembly is needed correct?

ummm... seems overly complicated.

take a backup
uninstall tapatalk
install new version of tapatalk

if there is a failure at any point, restore backup

Last question. Which is the correct version of talatalk? I do not want to have to go through this again.

also, I think you'll need to ask Tapatalk that.

You need the 3.4.0 one unless you're running an outdated version of SMF (3.4.0 works with SMF 2.0 RC5 and newer).

Ok, I went through all my steps and installed, looks good, now I have questions in setting I do not know how to answer

Finding it on your phone is your problem . It has nothing to do with the forum

I have a suspicion it is related to the app itself ie a notification that a post has been made on the forum.

I cannot find the app on my phone, others are telling me that it is working, which is interesting as I have not supplied the settings in the SM forum requested by tapatalk.

I moved my questions to the tapatalk support to try an post questions in the correct place
