Hi,

I have deleted a post which I now want to restore.

I have a database backup and have found the post in the backup in the messages table.

Is it necessary to copy and paste each record, one by one (which seems tedious) or can I copy the entire records row from the backup database to the current database in one go?

If so how?

All my searches reveal nothing applicable?

BTW I have also 'discovered' the recycle board concept, like most of my SMF 'discoveries', its too late in this case!

You can restore the entire backup...   restoring a single post form that backup is difficult, because it's more than just the single post record. There are associated records in several other tables.

Your best bet would be to take the post contents from the backup and just recreate it in the normal posting fashion (from the front end)

Kindred,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

I'll do as you say, it's a good job you mentioned the other tables or I'd probably have broken something.

Thanks again.
