Is it possible to bridge 2 SMF forums? Interested in members of first forum automatically being registered in second forum????

Kindred

no.... you can not easily "bridge" two SMF forums.

You can, however, install the sub-forums mod from feline (the maker of PortaMX and PMX Blog)
or install one of the multi-forum mods.

So long as the sites/domains are on the same server, it should work

However (again)   the biggest question is
WHY do you want to do that? If you explain specifically what you are trying to accomplish with two forums that have the same members, we may be able to suggest a better, more efficient way...

I have a hunting forum and a reloading forum. The hunting forum has 100+ members and the (much newer) reloading forum only has about 20 members. many of the members of the hunting were asking why they can't automatically be registered on both sites without having to do it manually. I guess some are lazy and others figure both hunting and reloading go together.  ;D

Kindred

ah... since you have two established forums, you are going to have problems.
as I said, there is no good way to do this....

The sub-forums mod allows you to set up two (or more) forums which are "virtually" separated, but actually share the same database.

If I install the subforum mod on the older/larger one, is it possible to create a new subforum and copy all the files over in order to retain the existing content of the newer one?

Kindred

no... that was my point.
IIRC, The subforums mod does not use a different ste of files at all... it uses the same files, the same database, it just separates the boards and content into virtual "sites"

there is no good way to import the contents of one forum into another, established forum
